2013 Fastnet Race
Held biannually, the Rolex Fastnet Race is one of the most exciting races in the world.
With Carey Yacht Charters you have the opportunity to compete in this prestigious event which involves circa 300 yachts in over 1500 miles of offshore racing with a series of training events both afloat and on shore.
Berths aboard our boats are available to people of all abilities from novice sailors to experienced yachtsmen. For beginners we do recommend that you take an RYA Competent crew Course before the campaign begins.
The Race itself involves passage over a 600 mile course that provides the sternest test for both skipper and crew with difficult tidal flows and variable weather. Organised by the RORC the race starts at 10 am on Sunday 11th.August.
The Course passes through the Solent and leaves the Needles as competitors sail out into the English Channel. You will then sail along the South Coast leaving Lands End as you head North West for the Fastnet Rock. The return Leg to Plymouth will pass via Bishops Rock Lighthouse South of the Scilly Isles to the finish line at Plymouth.
Qualifying Races will include:
De Guingand Bowl Race - June 14th to 16th
Morgan Cup Race - June 28th to 30th
St Malo Race - July 12th - 14th
Fastnet Race - Start date 11th August 2013
